Tanzania faces persisting challenges in maternal and neonatal health, including high delivery rates, maternal and neonatal mortality with 238 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births and 22 neonatal deaths per 1,000 live births, and overburdened healthcare providers and systems. Tanzania continues to be one of the 10 countries with the highest maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity rates in the world. While 98% of pregnant women attend at least one ANC visit, at least 37% still deliver outside the health facilities, highlighting concerns about accessibility and quality of care. Many women report verbal abuse, harsh treatment, and a lack of privacy in hospitals.
